Cooking, Landscaping, and Painting with Pinelake Church in Marks

We want to give a big shoutout to the incredible Pinelake team for pouring their love and support into our ministry at The Village last week. They started their time in Marks by painting and preparing our newest teacher's bedroom in our teacher apartments at The Village. Before painting, they filled the walls with scripture and whispered heartfelt prayers for this teachers first year in Quitman County. Their prayers and service for our teachers mean so much to us and we are praying that this space will be a safe haven after long days of teaching. ⁣⁣⁣

But that's not all—they organized a fun, creative camp for our 1st-10th graders, helping them discover the joy of cooking, gardening, and crafting. Learning to cook delicious lasagna, tacos, and breakfast dishes in our new kitchen brought lots of smiles and laughter! With printed menus in hand, our kids practiced ordering food as a customer and also taking orders like real restaurant professionals. They also did some landscaping in the backyard at The Village! On the last day, the team wanted to extend their reach to the community by partnering with @Rollinbeanms by handing out free teas to city officials and community workers!⁣⁣

One of the most impactful moments of the week was their small group time, where the team gave the different groups Bible stories to read of individuals who faced suffering and hardship. Through these stories, our children learned that God is near and his love remains steadfast in times of struggle. This special time opened the door for deep and meaningful conversations, and the older kids bravely shared their personal struggles with anger, depression, and loneliness.⁣⁣⁣

We look forward to the seeing the seeds that were sown by Pinelake Church, flourishing and transforming lives in the days to come!
